A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30 at China's Alley Restaurant in Lindsay for William “Bill” Louis Smith, 94, of Lindsay and formerly of San Jose. He died on Oct. 8 in Bakersfield. He was born in Carolton, Miss. on Sept. 4, 1911. He enjoyed fishing and going to casinos. He also attended and enjoyed being part of the Valley Musicians Benefit Fund. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He received the ATO Medal, APTP Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. He is survived by his niece, Shirley Briggs of Lindsay and one brother, Clyde L. Smith of Oxford, Miss. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Smith.
