Velma Carruth Webster Kilpatrick

Memorial Services were held for Velma Carruth Webster Kilpatrick, of Exeter. She passed away Feb., 26, 2006 in Visalia. Velma was born in Hondo, N.M. Feb. 1, 1914 to Robert Lee and Estie Carruth. Velma resided in the Exeter area for over 76 years where she was a charter member of the Exeter Church of Christ. She worked as a nurse for Dr. John Glenn, at Exeter Hospital and Exeter Memorial Hospital for over 32 years. She assisted with the births of many of today's Exeter residents as well as three of her grandchildren. She was among the first group of nurses to receive the certification of LVN in California, and was fondly known by the hospital staff as &#8220Webbie,”

She enjoyed handwork, including embroidery, flowers, antiques, and collectables. She was an avid San Francisco Giant baseball fan, attending many games. Everyone will miss her dedication to family and her ability to see humor.

She was proceeded in death by her parents; sister, Bertha Genoe; husbands, Clifford Webster and Ambuss Kilpatrick; and great-grandson, John Patrick Hirni.

Velma is survived by her sister, Ida Hurlbut and husband Eugene of Modesto; son, Melvin Webster and wife, Marjean, of Fresno; daughter, Wilma Hirni and husband, Mickey, of Exeter; daughter Patsy Moebs and husband, Tom, of Twain Harte; eight grand-children, Marlene Hirni Sairo and husband Bill, Linda Webster Robinson and husband Wes, Karrie Hirni Crookham and husband Dan, Mark Hirni and wife Nicole, Clifford Webster and wife Lisa, Suzanne Webster Jones and husband Kevin, Bill Moebs and wife Suzie, Tommy Moebs and wife Bernita; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Smith Family Chapel of Exeter was in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Exeter Church of Christ, 320 E. Firebaugh Ave., Exeter 93221. Online condolences:
