A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, at the Exeter Smith Family Chapel for Marybelle Greer of Exeter. Marybelle, 72, died peacefully with family at her side on April 10, 2006 in Los Angeles after a battle with cancer. Marybelle was born on May 28, 1933 in Fairplay, Mo., but at age 6 months moved with her parents, Kerm and Hazel Greer, to Exeter where she was raised and educated. She graduated Exeter Union High School in 1952. In high school she led an active social life as a yell leader, majorette, Rainbow Girl, homecoming queen and Exeter Grape Festival Queen. Marybelle attended Woodbury College in Los Angeles, where she majored in business and fashion design.

In 1957 she married Ruben Zacarias of Los Angeles, with whom she had two children. They later divorced, but remained friends. Marybelle moved to the Fresno area in 1968, where she worked for many years as dining room manager for the Fresno Hilton and later, as office manager for Garabedian Farms. She also lived briefly in Cambria, a place she loved dearly and visited often. In 1988, she retired and moved back to Exeter to be closer to family and old friends.

Marybelle had been staying in Los Angeles since January to receive medical care at Cedars Sinai Medical Center. A true &#8220people person” Marybelle always drew interesting and adventurous friends. Those who knew her will miss her kind heart, her sense of humor and her sincere interest in people from all walks of life.

She is survived by one son, Steven Zacarias of Diamond Bar; one daughter, Ruth Zacarias and her husband Jeff Daar of Northridge, and their four children Aaron, Sara, Rachel and Jonathan; extended family and many dear friends.
