Juanita Fay Hammons, 88, passed away May 7, 2006 in Prescott, Ariz. after suffering a massive stroke. &#8220Nita” as she was known to her family and friends, was born in Magnum, Okla. to Charles and Minnie Ulum on May 19, 1917. They moved to Exeter when she was five years old. She attended Exeter schools. She married George Hammons on April 7, 1943 and resided in Lindsay, until moving to Arizona in October 2004.

Nita worked for Pinkham Packing Company, Betz Packing Company and Sierra Citrus. She served on the Election Board in Lindsay and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband, George; son, Jan Collins of Grass Valley, Calif.; daughter, JoAnn Carter of Prescott, Ariz,; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
