A Masonic Graveside Service with Military rites by Tulare County AM-VETS Post #56, at the Exeter District Cemetery, was held for John O. Cole, who passed away June 8, 2006, in Visalia at the age of 83.

John was born to Arthur and Pearl Kindrix Cole in Brandt, Arkansas. He graduated from high school in Covina, Calif. in 1941 and entered the U.S. Coast Guard. John was a Journeyman Wireman for IBEW Local #11 for 40 years. He married Anna Miller in Pasadena, on November 3, 1946. After retirement in 1984, they moved to Exeter in 1989 and then to Visalia.

John was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Exeter; Mineral King Masonic Lodge #128 in Visalia; Al Maliakah Shrine in Los Angeles; American Legion; Tulare County Shrine and was a Past Patron, Order of the Eastern Star, #94 Tulare Chapter and #193 Alhambra Chapter. He was also a Past Watchman of the Shepard with the White Shrine in Alhambra and Porterville.

John was preceded in death by his son Craig and brothers and sisters; Eual Cole, Mary Tannler, Allie Lively, Lynn Cole, Abe Cole and Jewell Shaw.

Survivors include his wife, Anna Cole; his son Gary Cole both of Visalia; a brother, W.R. Cole of LaVerne, Calif.; his grandchildren; Dustin Cole and Darleen Warren both of Visalia; great-grandchildren; Gregory Russell and Christina Russell both of Visalia and Paris Henne of Tulare; a brother-in-law A.E. &#8220Gene” Miller and his wife Loretta of Visalia; a sister-in-law Ruth Monk of Marysville and numerous nieces and nephews. Arrangements were under the direction of Evans-Miller Exeter Chapel. Remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society.
