Funeral services will be held for Beulah Higgins, at 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 27, 2006 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 East Caldwell, Visalia, with burial following at Exeter District Cemetery.

Beulah Higgins former Exeter school teacher, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, Oct. 18, 2006 at Westgate Care Center in Visalia after an extended illness of heart disease and stroke.

She was born Sept. 18, 1911 near Stockton, in Cedar County, Mo., to Michael and Nellie Oldham.

After high school graduation, she attended Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, Mo. and taught for four years in local one room schools.

She married Bender Higgins in 1935 in Marionville, Mo. and they moved to Exeter in 1937. Her teaching career in California spanned 31 years, 30 of those years at Lincoln Grammar School in Exeter. She was a graduate of Fresno State College. A member of California Teachers Association and an Honorary Life Member of the California Parent Teacher's Association, she retired from teaching in 1974.

Beulah was baptized at the Stockton Methodist Church in 1926 and locally attended First Baptist Church in Visalia as her health allowed.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, her brother John Myrl Oldham in 1984, and her husband Bender Higgins, also in 1984.

She is survived by her son Jack Higgins and her daughter-in-law Janice Higgins of Visalia and her sister-in-law Irene Coday of Exeter.
