No formal services are planned for Gerald E. Gilmore, at his request.

Gerald E. Gilmore, Lt. Col. US Army, retired, was born in Ohio, Nov. 1, 1913, to David and Ella Musser Gilmore, the third of five children. He passed away Feb. 9, 2007 at the age of 93.

Jerry graduated from Ohio University in 1936. In 1940 he enlisted in the Army and served in World War II and Korea, specializing in Counter-Intelligence. He retired from the service in 1964 and worked for a Savings and Loan in Long Beach before moving to Woodlake in 1974, Exeter in 1988 and Visalia in 2005. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 94, Exeter, and a life member of Amity Masonic Lodge 473, Oklahoma City, and the Scottish Rite of Memphis, Tenn. Jerry was an avid golfer and scored the first of his eleven holes-in-one at the age of 76. He continued to play weekly at the Exeter Golf Course, with much enjoyment, through 2006.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Phyllis, after 59 years of marriage, a beloved daughter, Luann Brown, and three sisters.

Jerry is survived by a daughter, Caralee Phillips and her husband Doug of Visalia, grandchildren Ryan Phillips and his wife Katie of Woodlake, Doug &#8220DJ” Phillips and his wife Ann of Visalia, David Phillips of San Luis Obispo, Sgt. Ashley Brown-Wiekamp of Ft. Campbell, Ky., Adam Brown of San Luis Obispo, great-granddaughter, Susie Phillips of Visalia, son-in-law Arthur Brown of Irvine, and sister Maxine Swan of Delray Beach, Fl. Any remembrances may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
