Robert &#8220Bob” Lee Harper

Funeral services for Robert &#8220Bob” Lee Harper, 74, of Visalia will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 23, at Evans-Miller Exeter Chapel. He passed away March 18, 2007.

He was born on April 8, 1932 in Crystal Springs, Miss. to William Homer and Mary Louella Harper.

He attended school in Mississippi through the seventh grade before moving with his family to Exeter in 1944. He continued his education and graduated from Exeter High School in 1950.

After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army. he was a veteran of the Korean War. Upon being discharged from the army, Robert met and married the love of his life, Norma Lee Freeman. The were married for 49 years before her passing April 5, 2004.

Robert worked for Watermen's Industry in Exeter for 27 years before he retired. After retiring they decided to move to Del Rio, Texas, but after three years they found that their hearts belonged in California with their children and grandchildren.

Robert so enjoyed his children, grandchildren and great-grandson. He especially enjoyed going to high school football games to watch his granddaughters perform with the band at half time or watching them playing soccer or softball. He also looked forward to the visits from his grandson and great-grandson.

Besides his wife Norma, he is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Alice June Harper.

Bob is survived by his three sons, Robert Harper and his partner Craig Mills of Visalia, David Harper and wife Roxie of San Luis Obispo and Rick Harper and his wife Loretta of Tulare; three grandchildren, Jason Harper of Nampa, Idaho, Melissa Harper of Tulare, Brittany Harper also of Tulare; and one great-grandson, Clayton Harper of Nampa, Idaho. He is also survived by two sisters, Lucille Tredway of Strathmore, Gracie Williams and husband Alan of Visalia; a brother, Willie &#8220Homer” Harper and his wife Kay of Visalia; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 3-7 p.m., Thursday, March 22, at Evans-Miller Exeter Chapel. Condolences may be sent to [email protected]. Arrangements by Evans-Miller Exeter Chapel.
