Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, May 11 at Lindsay Strathmore Public Cemetery for James Percival Ray of Lindsay, who passed away May 1, 2007 at the age of 69.

James was born Sept. 6, 1937 in Poteau, Okla. to the late Sherman and Belle Ray. He lived in Lindsay with his wife of 25 years, Margaret, but grew up in Earlimart and graduated from Delano High School with the Class of 1956.

He spent four years in the United States Navy and then went to work for Rockwell International in Los Angeles where he worked for 14 years. He owned his own trucking business for 10 years before going to work for Bonds Trucking and Farming for two years.

He retired in 1999 after working as a driver and dispatcher for 12 years for MSM Trucking in Tulare.

James is survived by two sons; Gerald Ray and wife Tina of Tulare; Vaughn Ray and wife Melinda of West Plains, Mo., three stepchildren; Jerry Greer and companion Bonnie of Exeter, Monty Greer of Lindsay, Lisa Hittson and husband Shad of Exeter; one brother, Bill Ray and wife Shirley of Spiro, Okla., five sisters; Lou Crouch of Valley Springs, Liz Barrea and husband Eloy of Del Rio, Texas, Paulette Waymire and husband Jack of Springfield, Ore., Sharon Hott and husband Will of Dallas, and Judi Barnes and husband Jim of Tehachapi; grandchildren, Jason Ray, Makayla Ray, eight step grandchildren; Kevin Greer, Krystal Greer, Chad Parkerson, Christina Pena, Joanna Navarro, Corina Santos, Justin Greer, Allison Greer, Michelle Sanders and Les Sanders as well as seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
