Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 1, at the Lindsay-Strathmore Public Cemetery for Adalena Hylton.

She passed away on Sept. 24, at the age of 88.

Adalena was born an only child on Dec. 22, 1923 to parents Bradford and Vendla Siebenthal in her parent’s country home just outside of Lindsay.

After she and her husband Donald returned from WWII service, they moved into a house next door, which she lived in for the remainder of her life. Though the view out her living room window probably didn’t change much over the years, the world she lived in changed a lot. She only had a radio for entertainment when she was young, but made sure to have hand-held game systems for her great grandkids when they came to visit (cool grandma!). When she was a child, the community loved to buy her mother’s home churned butter, and as an adult she was known to have a freezer full of ice cream. There weren’t a lot of children to play with growing up on her parent’s chicken ranch, so as she grew older she loved to watch people. She attended 50 years of ball games because she loved to watch her family play or coach. Whether through her church, at her children or grandchildren’s activities, community clubs or just in her day to day living, she spent a lifetime volunteering and helping others. Her life was marked with love and kindness. Without a doubt, the greatest legacy she will have left us is her outlook on life…positive. No matter the circumstances, she chose to have a positive attitude and be content with her circumstances.

Adalena is survived by her three sons and their families: Ken and Pat Hylton, Dennis and Patty Hylton, and Gary and Katie Hylton; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
