Raymond Ortiz Murrietta
Mass of Christian Burial for Raymond Ortiz Murrietta of Lindsay will be said on Wednesday, Aug. 23 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lindsay. The Reverend Kenneth Bozzo will officiate and interment will take place after the Mass service on Wednesday, at Lindsay Cemetery. Holy Rosary was prayed on Monday, Aug. 21 at Webb Sanders & Smith Funeral Home. Raymond passed away on Aug. 16, 2017 at the age of 91.
Raymond was born July 24, 1926 in Pacoima, Calif. to Antonio and Apolonia Murrietta and was raised and attended school there. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II and was married to Dolores Borbon in 1983.
The Murrietta family came to Lindsay sometime in the early 1970’s and made their home here. He worked in agriculture and enjoyed fishing, listening to music, gardening, watching western movies and had an amazing “green thumb”. He could get anything to grow.
Raymond was preceded death by his wife Dolores Murrietta; a son Raymond Murrietta Jr and a daughter Beatriz Avila as well as all his siblings. He is survived by his daughters Ermelinda Morales of Delano, Calif.; Clara Segura of Lindsay, Calif.; Norma Johnson, Rebecca Torres and Theresa Torres, all of Visalia, Calif.; Monica Crandall of Pennsylvania and Maria Mendoza of Porterville.
Sons Mario Murrietta of Oklahoma and Armando Murrietta of Visalia; 45 grandchildren, 113 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
