Kenneth Howard Dougherty, formerly of Farmersville, Calif., passed away peacefully in his home with loved ones around him on Sept. 5, 2018.
He was born Sept., 13 1942 in Bernie, Mo. Kenneth grew up in a military family and traveled the world. He lived in many places including Guam, Lakehurst Naval Base and Jacksonville, Fla.
Dougherty joined the Navy in 1961 and served for 21 years retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. He also worked for Kings County Truck Lines out of Tulare for 22 years and was a member of the Teamsters Union.
In 1969 he married he married the love of his life Lawanda (Crisswell) Dougherty. They remained married until the day he passed. Dougherty enjoyed spending time with his family and his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren kept him entertained. He was known for saying to his family, “I love you if I have to.”
He was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Lucille Dougherty and his grandson Aaron Holmes. He is survived by his wife and their 49th wedding anniversary would have been in December. He is also survived by his children Becky Dougherty, Danny (Shonda) Dougherty and April (Ricardo) Lafaire; grandchildren Rachel (Michael), Savannah, Cassidy, Tommi, Molli, Marli, Jessie, Morgan and James; great grandchildren, Noah, Brinley and Ellie. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Terri Criswell and Tonya and Charisma.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 14, 2018 at Exeter District Cemetery. Preceding the services there will be a pot luck at Calvary Worship Center located at 3890 S. Lovers Lane in Visalia, Calif.
