Eugene “Gene” Everett Ferguson, 1939–2021

Eugene “Gene” Everett Ferguson of Exeter, Calif., peacefully passed away Nov. 8, 2021, with his family by his side. He was 82 years old.

Gene was born on Oct. 24, 1939 Visalia, Calif., to Everett and Ada Ferguson. Fergie spent his entire life in the Exeter, Lindsay, and Farmersville areas. He was a devoted volunteer for the youth of Exeter coaching baseball and Pop Warner football for over 35 years. He was a long-time member of the Exeter Outdoors Association, Exeter Lions Club, and a volunteer firefighter.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his eldest son, Terry; his brothers, Herb, Dwayne, and Albert Ray; and his sister, Wanda Lou Keeling. 

Gene is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nancy Kathleen Ferguson; his sons, Eric Ferguson and Erin Ferguson and his wife Jana; Pop’s pride and joy grandson, Luke Ferguson and granddaughter Emma Ferguson; sisters, Joyce Cockburn (Dennis) of Visalia, Calif., and Delphine Rubly of Long Beach, Calif.; sisters-in-law, Joan Price and Charlotte Woods; and many nephews, nieces, and countless friends.

A memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 10, 2021 at the Exeter Memorial Building.
