Larry Cyrus Turner
1945–2023
Larry was born to Cyrus “Doc” and Fern Turner on Oct. 24, 1945, in Exeter, Calif. where he grew up and lived for more than 55 years. Larry recounted many happy memories about riding his amazing horse, Ticket, at Riata Ranch and summertime packhorse trips to Big Meadows, Calif. in his youth. He was proud of his service as a police officer at the Exeter Police Department, of his work in the family trucking business, Turner Brothers Trucking, and later as an armored truck driver, delivering millions of dollars to the federal bank. He has actively enjoyed his “retirement” years affectionately loving his wife, keeping up with family, and helping family, friends, neighbors, and strangers in any way he could.
Dad had many favorite sayings. He exemplified “Never save for tomorrow what you can do today.” He wisely instructed me, “If you know there is trouble on B street, then go down C street.” However, when I noticed him travel down “B Street” and asked him about it, he might respond “Do as I say, not as I do” or “Good boys are seen and not heard.”
