Dear Editor,

Kudos to the County Supervisors, the Lindsay Unified School District Board and the Farmersville City Council for reminding our congressional representatives about the needs of DACA registrants. As a Farmerville teacher, I know how much we have invested in these talented young people, and the loss on our investment is unthinkable should any of them be deported. As a historian, I cannot think of any country anywhere that became stronger by deporting a class of people who had become integrated into their economy. We need a much broader reform of our immigration policies to include workers who came as adults and have contributed lawfully for twenty or thirty years, but protection of DACA is a place to start.
