Letter to the Editor: From CASA of Tulare County’s new executive director

Dear Editor,

I’m excited and honored with the opportunity as Executive Director of CASA of Tulare County, to carry the personal responsibility of challenging myself and staff to remain focused on our needs to be the best we can be. We must spread the word about our cause, so that we can invest in recruiting, training, and retaining more court appointed advocates.

As a former ward of the state of Ohio, I have a unique perspective on the entirety of our cause. Having experienced the lengthy process of foster care; I can attest that it’s a confusing and terrifying place for kids. It’s proven that if a child has an advocate speaking on their behalf, they’re more likely to get appropriate placement and a closed case. Most of all, their fears and concerns will be addressed adequately to the presiding judge who can hear the voice of the child.

We, at CASA, are invested in the hope that every kid who is in troubling circumstances can become the light in a dark place. As we ensure their safety, countless surrounding communities will see the benefit of CASA. At the end of the day, success for us is in the light of our kids smiles, their permanent placement in healthy surroundings, and the reunification with a love one; this is our joy, our job, our mandate.

Thank you, for supporting CASA of Tulare County and our children.

Eric Johnson
