The Nonprofit Love INC

Taylor Marshall is executive director of the nonprofit Love in the Name of Christ.

Before you begin to read this week’s column, I would like to give you a little introduction. I’m Jim Newman, the pastor of the First Presbyterian Church here in Exeter. I moved here with my wife and young family in 2001. That was also the year that “Monsters, Inc.” came out in the theaters. No, this is not an article about a new animated Pixar movie. It is rather about a very helpful nonprofit organization which I have found to be an amazing resource for churches here in Tulare County who want to reach out and help needy families and individuals around them. I don’t need to tell you about the incredible struggles and needs that people are facing in our communities. But I believe you will find that Love INC can be a valuable resource for you when you feel overwhelmed by the number of persons who are facing hardships. So without further ado, let me turn this over to someone who can explain this all better.

Hello everyone! My name is Taylor Marshall and I am the new executive director for Love In the Name of Christ. It is my pleasure to serve our community! For those of you who may be unaware of what Love INC has to offer you, please know that we are here to serve you; our neighbors in need. Our mission is to mobilize churches by transforming lives in the name of Christ.

Love INC is a resource center for you while going through trials or changes in your own life. For instance, if you are looking for a new job and need assistance looking for appropriate interview clothing, please give us a call. If you are new to the area and although you have a place to stay, you do not have a bed to sleep on, please give us a call. If you need assistance through a trial in your life please give us a call. We are here to provide you with information and resources to assist you through this trial and give you a hand up to help you get through it.

We assist with the following but are not limited to: food, clothing, counseling, furnishing, money management, work experience, assistance in reinventing your life, mattress sets with linens, school supplies, volunteer opportunities, emergency hygiene kits for respite care, and CWS clients with items to keep the family united.

In 2022 we assisted 867 households (1,323 adults and 1,722 children), in 2023 we assisted 1,093 households (1,628 adults and 2,084 children), and in the first quarter of 2024 we were blessed to assist with 413 households (615 adults and 720 children). Thank you to all of you that have donated to Love INC to make these efforts possible!
