Farmersville and Lindsay play to tie

By Tom Price jr.

With three players out due to injury and illness the Lindsay Cardinals girl's soccer team knew they had their hands full with undefeated Farmersville.

The Cardinals took a defensive approach, moving forward Fidelina Camacho to sweeper and Brenda Rangel to the defensive side of the ball.

The move worked as they prevented Farmersville from getting any legitimate shots on goal and forced a scoreless tie.

"We can hold up with anybody," Cardinal coach Freddy Martinez said. "We have a solid defense and they are going to carry us all season long."

Rangel, has shown her versatility in the early season by playing multiple positions. Her success, according to Martinez, is in her approach.

"She has helped on defense, she plays all over the field," Martinez said. "She doesn't wait for the ball to come to her, she goes after it."

The Cardinals will be looking to get healthy before the Garces Tournament on Dec. 19.

Ankle injuries and illness have hampered their development in the early season.

"It's good for us to get the injuries out of the way now," Martinez said. "If we get them now they will have time to heal before league play."
