Two defensive efforts kept the Exeter Monarchs boys basketball team's momentum heading into league play this week.
Trailing 41-34 at halftime against Porterville last Wednesday the Monarchs defense cut off all lanes to the basket and limited the Panthers to just five second-half points and evened the score at 34. In overtime they shutout the stunned Panthers and left with the victory.
