Entering East Sequoia League play the Lindsay Cardinals (11-3) boys basketball team is riding a hot streak, winning their second straight game on Friday. The Cardinals defeated Strathmore 65-33 with a strong shooting performance.
An aggressive defense for the Cardinals forced 35 turnovers and limited the Spartans to just 35 percent shooting from the field.
Gonzalez finished the game with 19 points and was six-of-six from the field and center Abel Gamboa added a career high 12 points. Pablo Rios had eight points, six steals and six assists.
Earlier in the week they handed Central Valley Christian a 64-54 loss. The game started with a flurry of points from both sides with the Cavaliers on top 20-19 at the end of the first quarter. Startled by the offensive outburst from CVC, the Cardinal defense tightened its grip in the second period, forcing seven turnovers. The improved defense led to a commanding 39-26 halftime lead.
