Sophomore basketball guard Russie Saunders was named the Cardinal of the Week this week for her game against Orosi.
She scored a career high 16 points helping the Cardinals to a 56-36 win. She also contributed unselfishly with three assists and she had four steals and five rebounds.
She is currently averaging 5.8 points per game and two assists per game.
Saunders is considered tall for a guard and is able to go inside and help on the boards. She combines her height with her speed that allows her to get ahead on a fast break and apply pressure on defense.
