Exeter drops two one-goal decisions

The Exeter boys soccer team suffered two more one-goal loses last week and fell to 4-4 in the East Sequoia League.

On Tuesday Woodlake scored on a pass to the backside of the goal late in the second half to win 2-1 and on Thursday a header in the overtime period pushed Dinuba to a 2-1 victory.

Matt Downs continued his consistent play for the Monarchs by scoring a goal in his fifth consecutive game on Tuesday. His goal came 15 minutes into the second half when he connected on a penalty kick that tied the game at 1-1.

Exeter would suffer a similar defeat against Dinuba when Francisco Sanchez scored Exeter's only goal only to see the lead erased early in the second half when they scored on another header in the box. Exeter fell short in the overtime period.
