The Lindsay boys swim team finished fifth at the East Sequoia League Championship meet April 7 at Woodlake High School and the girls finished last, but numerous individual performances gave the Cardinals reason to keep their head up.
Boys
The Cardinals may have finished 300 points off the pace but they were definitely a factor in the meet. Justin Morillo had Lindsay's only first place finish with a time of 1:02.40 in the 100-yard butterfly and he also had a second place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:09.53). Steven Ingoldsby recorded two second place finishes in the 100-yard freestyle (50.86) and in the 50-yard freestyle (23.08).
Alec Blue finished four seconds in front of Aaron Henderson to take second in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:23.58.
The Cardinals 200-yard medley relay team of Alec Blue, Jordan Blue, Morillo, and Ingoldsby finished fourth with a time of 1:53.47, just two and half seconds off the leader.
Girls
Nichole Shaw was the only Cardinal girl to place in at the ESL meet. She finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:15.04) barely beating Holly Sparks from Dinuba (1:15.35) and took second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.77, just behind the winner Shannon Rager from Dinuba (26.37).
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Heather Baker, Kadi Jones, Brittany Phipps and Shaw, finished in fifth place with a time of 2:05.31.
