Exeter Little League held its All Star games for both the Majors and Minors on June 12 at Dobson Field.
When the Exeter Little League divided their All Star teams maybe they were a little to balanced. After seven innings wasn't enough to determine the winner between the Red and Blue All Star teams the game was called a tie at 9-9.
A two-run double off the bat of Garret Souza with nobody out in the bottom of the seventh inning helped the Blue All Star team even the game at nine, but the next three batters failed to reach base. Souza's hit scored A.J. Tobias and Aaron Estrada.
The Red team overcame a 6-1 deficit to take a 9-6 lead into the final inning but could not hold it.
Dylan Watson had two doubles and Josh Brook and Clayton Simmons each had a double to lead the Red team and Souza went 3-for-3 with two doubles to lead the Blue team and J.C. Totty added a double.
Red 12, Blue 11
Trailing 11-2 in the final inning the Red All-Star team turned their hats inside out and hoped for a rally. But not even they could have imagined the turn of events in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Numerous walks and a few key hits later the Red team was celebrating a 12-11 win. Nick Becker delivered the game winning single into right field scoring Julio Marquez from third base.
Earlier in the inning David Albright was gunned down at home plate trying to even the score giving the Blue team its second out. But the Red team recovered and stunned the Blue team who dominated the first five innings of the game.
Luke Smith led all hitters going 3-for-3 and Marquez and Jacob Sertich each added two hits. The Blue team was led by Jim Lefabe who had a triple.
