Cervantes to play in All Star football game

Lindsay lineman Tomas Cervantes was announced as a member of the East squad for the 37th annual Tulare-Kings All Star Football game at a July 7 dinner.

Cervantes will join seniors from 12 other schools to form the East team which is coached by Mark Gambini from Central Valley Christian in Visalia. Gambini in originally from Exeter and played for the Monarchs in high school.

Cervantes, the Cardinals lone representative, played both ways for the Cardinals this year and was a dominating force on the offensive line. He made the transition from the backfield to the line with ease. Cervantes also played baseball for the Cardinals in his senior year.

The Tulare-Kings All Star football game will be held at 8 p.m. on July 30 at Bob Mathias Stadium in Tulare.

Other local players named to the East squad are Jose Romo from Farmersville, Brent Pascoe from Exeter, Abraham Rodriguez and Erik Perez from Woodlake and Sam Villa Gomez from Strathmore.
