Megan Eppler highlighted a standout performance by the Exeter Eels swim team at the Central Valley Recreation Swim League (CVRSL) All Star Finals on July 24 in Reedley.

Eppler was within a second of the CVRSL record of 26.14 in the 11-to 12-year-old girls 50-yard freestyle. Her finals time of 26.78 was good enough for a first place finish, her second of the day. She also took the top spot in the 100-yard individual medley where she finished more than three seconds faster than her second place competitor, Kimber Methvin. For good measure Eppler added a second place finish in the 50-yard butterfly.

Danielle Woods also found herself in front of the pack for the Eels winning the 50-yard freestyle with a finals time of 26.29, barely edging Michaela Evans. Woods also finished second in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 33.91 in the finals and she finished fifth in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 29.55.

Abby Mendonca found herself near the top in two events finishing third in the girls 6-and-under 25-yard freestyle with a time of 20.37 and fifth in the 25-yard backstroke with a time of 25.96.

Jonathan Castellow continued his momentum from a strong performance at the time trials last week with two strong swims in the finals. In the boys 9-to 10-year-old 25-yard freestyle he finished third with a time of 14.45 and he took fourth in the 25-yard butterfly with a time of 16.23.

Other noteables include Mitchell Gosvener with a first place finish in the 25-yard breaststroke and Savannah Edwards who took second in the 50-yard backstroke.
