Pettyjohn gets no decision in shaky pitching performance

In his first outing since facing his former team on Aug. 21, Adam Pettyjohn left the game with his Sacramento River Cats leading the Tucson Sidewinders 7-6 after six innings on Aug. 26.

Chris Mabeus pitched one inning of relief for the Oakland Athletics triple-A affiliate and gave up the tying run. The game went into extra innings and Jairo Garcia was called to get them out of the 10th inning but instead gave up the winning run and was credited with the loss 8-7 at home. Pettyjohn gave up six earned runs, but struck out eight batters. Pettyjohn is 3-1 in eight games for the River Cats this season. He has struck out 33, walked 12 and has an ERA of 7.68. As of press time, the River Cats were 75-61 and in first place of the Southern Division of the Pacific Coast League.
