Junior J.R. Lopez was the top Lindsay High School finisher in the dual meet with Porterville on Sept. 7. He came in second place losing to one of the best runners in the county.

J.R. completed the three-mile course in 19:09 despite the 102 degree heat.

Lopez has emerged as our top runner this year, logging many miles of training on the roads of Lindsay over the summer. His hard work paid off at the Dinuba Invitational where he finished eighth. The 2.5-mile race included many top runners from about 15 small and large schools in the area. After a smooth, relaxed start, Lopez began his task of passing runner after runner in the field of 75 runners. His confidence on his way to a medal at the finish line of the grueling event with a time of 12:56.

Lopez, a first-year varsity runner, has ben a good example to the new runners on the team this year and will need to keep working hard to stay ahead of others that are not far behind.
