Immanuel shuts down Monarch streak

In a devastating four games against Immanuel, the Monarch's undefeated volleyball squad lost their perfect season in a final 1-4 game loss in their home gym.

Renee Barnett had a top game with 29 kills, five aces and 36 digs.

Tiffany Marinos kept Immanuel on their toes with agressive defense in 36 digs backed up by 18 more from Amanda Morgan.

Marinos also put away 22 kills and three aces. Setter Libby Hellwig slammed five aces and six kills over the net and pulled out seven digs by the end of the fourth game.

Immanuel came back against a strong Monarch lead to take the first win of the night, 25-18.

The Eagles attempted the same feat when the Monarchs dominated the second game. This time, Exeter didn't allow a come back and won the second game game 25-18.

The third game kept the teams close and the crowd on edge as the teams went back and forth on serving. The Eagles ended the longest game of the night with a 27-25 win.

The Monarchs lost steam in the fourth game and Immanuel went full force to crush the Monarchs perfect season with a final 25-19 win.

The loss to Immanuel combined with a 25-16, 25-7, 25-8 win over Dinuba on Tuesday brought the Monarch ESL record to 9-1.

The JV squad came out of the week with continued strong play maintaining their season-long winning streak.

The JV squad fared much better. Against Dinuba on Tuesday the JVs won 25-18 and 25-19.

They followed it up with a win over Immanuel, 25-17 and 25-20.

For the week, Collie Souza made 13 hits and eight aces. Amber Capello followed with eight kills and two aces. Laura Brinmen also helped out with six kills and five aces.

The little Monarchs continue on their path to a perfect season with a 10-0 league record and 11-0 overall.
