Ernesto Ramirez defended his No. 1 seed in the East Sequoia League tournament this past weekend in Dinuba. Ernesto defeated Calivin Cole from Coalinga in the opening round 10-6, taking him down five times. In the finals, Ernesto faced off with Armando Lopez of Dinuba. Ernesto controlled the whole match starting off with a a takedown and near fall to close out the first period. In the second period, Ernesto scored two more takedowns to close the period up 8-3. Ernesto controlled the third period as well adding two more takedowns to go on and defeat Lopez 12-15 earning him the ESL title. Ernesto has had a tremendous season so far placing third at the Lemoore Bash and fourth at the Mid-Cals. Ernesto will take his 29-8 season record into the Valley Championships this weekend in Shafter where he enters the tournament as the No. 2 seed.
