Exeter swam in its second league meet last week and the Monarch ladies dominated the pool while the boys struggled against Dinuba on Friday.

The Exeter girls defeated Dinuba in the dual East Sequoia League meet 46-123. The boys faltered for a 78-104 loss to the Emperors.

Megan Eppler had a strong day for the Exeter girls team taking first in two individual events (200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard breast stroke) and led in two first place relay finishes (the 200-yard freestyle relay and the 200-yard medley relay).

Exeter's Samantha Goates also came up big finishing the 50-yard freestyle in 25.64 for first place. She also beat out the pack to finish the 100-yard butterfly in 1:03.90. Exeter also snagged second and third place in that same race with Cassi Jones finishing in 1:07.50 and Heather Carlson wrapping it up in 1:14.70. Dinuba's only swimmer in the race, Alex Angangan finished in 1:24.10 for fourth place.

The Exeter girls took first place ahead of Dinuba swimmers in every individual event except the 200-yard Individual Medley. The Emperors' Holly Sparks took first place with 2:36.42 beating out Exeter's Heather Carlsen and Megan D'Orozio who placed second and third respectively.

Tricia D'Orozio took first in the 100-yard freestyle. McKenzie Hurick dominated the rigorous 500-yard freestyle to take first place with a time of 6:35.53.

Mackenda Hill won the 100-yard backstroke race with a quick 1:13.15.

The girls relay teams also made some big waves on the scoreboard as well.

Taking first place, the Exeter Girls B team sped through the 200-yard medley relay in 2:02.50. Goates, Eppler, D'Orozio and Cassi Jones comprised the B team.

The 200-yard freestyle race also turned into a win for the same team when they finished in front with 1:49.50.

In the final relay of the night, Exeter took first and second. HIll, Hurick, Carleson and Erika Marchbanks finished the 400-yard Freestyle relay in 4:37.99 for first place. Erika Fultz, Lizette Tavares, Jessica Davis and MEgan D'Orozio took second place for Exeter with a time of 4:51.43.

The girls also enjoyed a couple added points to their score in the 1 meter diving event. Sierra Edwards and Savannah Berlin took first and second places with scores of 27.90 and 20.80. Dinuba did not enter in the event.

The boys struggled on their side of the competition falling 78-104 to the Emperors.

Exeter's Dustin Mitchell helped the Monarchs total score by taking first in two individual races. With a time of 2:10.20 Mitchell took first in the 200-yard individual medley and did it again in the 100-yard breast stroke event where he finished in 1:06.98.

The Monarch boys struggled in their first event, 200-yard medley relay taking third place behind two Dinuba teams. But they came back trong in the 200-yard freestyle when Aaron Jones and Mike Safina clutching the second and third place slots.

Difficulties in the 50-yard Freestyle, the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard backstroke left Exeter placing only one person in each (third place in the Freestyle and butterfly events and second in the backstroke event),

But the Monarchs cleaned up nicely for the 400-yard freestyle relay. Aaron Jones, Daniel Munsch, Nick Jones and Mitchell finished in first at 3:57.27. Their teammates Nick Eppler, Andrew Jones, Blake Kleinhans and Mike Safina finished in third place with atime of 4:22.43 behind Dinuba's A team at 4:13.59.

Munsch and Andrew Jones swam into first and second place in the 100-yard freestyle race with quick times of 54.85 and 1:00.92.
