Monarchs go 6-1 at passing tourney

In their first passing tournament of the summer, Monarch football came up tough to take seventh place at the Redwood Passing Tournament on July 8-9. The team went 6-1 for the weekend beating teams like Golden West, Buchanan, Sunny Side and Hanford West.

Exeter took their lone loss on Friday when they faced host team Redwood. Redwood took an early lead scoring four back-to-back touchdowns before the Monarchs could answer.

But the Monarchs came back up on Saturday for a big 51-0 win over Hanford West in their final contest on Saturday afternoon.

The passing tournament shortly followed the Monarchs beneficial visit to the Morgan Hill Competitive Edge Camp.

Next up for the Monarchs is a joint fundraising effort with the Woodlake Tiger football team. The local rivals will go head-to-head in a golf tournament on July 23 at the Woodlake golf course. Gift and cash prizes will be given away in closest to hole, putting contests, longest drive, Tahoe hole and a 50/50 drawing. Cost of team sponsorship is $300 to $75 per person. Tee sponsors are welcome at $100 each. For more information, contact Darin Pace at 592-2127 ext. 207.
