Woodlake jumped well ahead of the East Sequoia League with their boys varsity squad taking another team championship at the second league meet on Wednesday, Oct. 12.

With the low score of 43, the Tigers jumped ahead as all five scoring runners placed in the top 15 as they followed the winding course at the basin of the dried up Kaweah Lake.

Woodlake's Gilbert Flores led the Tigers with an overall fourth place finish at 17:30. He kept a step ahead of teammate Joseph Spahn as they sprinted in the final stretch of the 3.1 mile course. Spahn took fifth place with his finish time, 17.30.7 minutes.

The two helped keep the team 11 points ahead of second place team Corcoran who earned a team score of 52 with top runner Agustin Jaramillo taking second place in 16:31.76.

Dinuba's boys finished in third holding off Exeter by just one point in team scores. The Emperors just dodged the Monarchs scoring 60 points to their 61. Exeter's top runner, Jordan Cavanagh, took third place overall with a course time of 17:22

Finally Lindsay's team took fifth place with a score of 161. Top Cardinal runner Miguel Aguilera placed 23rd overall with a time of 19:08.6.

The win is Woodlake's second at a league meet and puts the team in first place in the ESL.
