This year's quarterfinal clash between the Exeter Monarchs and the Taft Wildcats played out like most of Exeter's volleyball matches this year.

The Monarchs breezed through three quick wins for the victory. Exeter defeated Taft 25-8, 25-19 and 25-22 with help coming from every athlete on the Monarch squad.

Tiffany Marinos had 15 kills 18 digs and two aces against Taft while another senior teammate, Renee Barnett had 17 kills 10 digs and five aces.

The two experienced players have led the team all season and will now lead the Monarchs in a semifinal battle with Templeton to see who will advance to the finals on Thursday.

Exeter's Abby Bloetscher also played a key role in the victory over Taft. She had four kills and two blocks while Brittney Medrano had four kills as well.

Amanda Morgan earned three kills and two aces to advance the Monarchs' efforts.

Exeter setter Laura Brinkman had 42 assists for the night.

The win over Taft followed a first round bye for the No. 1 seeded Monarchs.

Exeter faced Templeton on Tuesday. Results were not available at press time.

The Woodlake Tigers also entered playoffs last week falling to No. 7 Kerman in a first round 3-1 match on Tuesday, Nov. 8 in Kerman.
