Woodlake stumps the Aztecs, 42-53

Woodlake defeated the Farmersville Aztecs in a opening game battle. In Aztec territory, the Tigers dug up a 53-42 victory.

In their first non-league contest of the season, the Tigers jumped ahead in the first quarter, outscoring the Aztecs 11-7. The Tiger offense continued to press the Aztecs outscoring Farmersville in all but one quarter. The Tigers kept their lead through the first half but faced trouble in the third as the Aztecs made their biggest offensive efforts earning 13 points and holding the Tigers to 11.

Woodlake's Juan Monzano led the Tiger offense scoring 23 points against the Aztecs. John Gomez also furthered the lead scoring 14 points.

Woodlake's Brenden Reeves hit the only shot from behind the arc for the Tigers only 3-point basket for the night.

The Tigers came back strong in the fourth quarter to keep the lead with 13 final points to Farmersville's 12.

Farmersville's Jose Perez proved himself one of the Aztecs strongest shooters scoring 11 points with one 3-point shot.

But the Aztecs failed to produce big points and their record fell to 0-2 in opening week losses to Lindsay and Woodlake.
