Athletes bring home league honors

Exeter and Lindsay made the success of their sports programs known this year with big wins in football and volleyball. And coaches throughout the East Sequoia League took notice. This year, both schools were highly represented as the league announced its all-league selections and honorable mentions.

In volleyball, Exeter's Tiffany Marinos was awarded the league's highest honor of Most Valuable player. Teammates Renee Barnett and Laura Brinkman were also honored as First Team All League selections.

From Lindsay, Lachelle Bales was the lone Cardinal to make first team.

The All-League second team included Lindsay's Russie Sanders along with Exeter's Amanda Morgan and Callie Souza.

Honorable mentions for East Sequoia League volleyball were Abby Bloetscher, Brittney Medrano and Amber Capello from Exeter and Jessica Padilla and Valerie Chairez of Lindsay.

In football, members of the Monarch and Cardinal squads were well represented.

From Exeter, linebacker Josh Edmonds, defensive lineman Vince Pasco, outside linebacker Denno Daly, quarterback Chris Mayabb and wide receiver and special teamer Eric Capello were selected to the first team.

Lindsay's running back Anthony Gonzalez, defensive back Erick Lott, defensive lineman Sergio Aparicio, receiver Alex Macias, and punter Abel Gamboa were also selected to the first team.

Second team selections included Exeter's Chris Lemus, Blake Rice, Sam Garver, Patrick Hutcheson, Luis Ortiz, Chris Parker, Aaron Gress and Brandon Edmonds.

Lindsay's second team selections included Abel Gamboa at quarterback, Adrian Gutierrez and Vincent Rincon from the offensive line.

Honorable mentions were Lindsays Jose Soria, Jose Felix and Michael Kahl.
