Card‘s pick up league win

Lindsay hosted the Orosi Cardinals in a makeup game on Monday, April 24 that produced Lindsay's second league win of the season putting their record at 2-5 in the East Sequoia League.

The Cardinals earned their first league win in a 4-1 victory over Woodlake on March 31.

Against Orosi, Lindsay's freshman pitcher, Cassie Manning led the Cardinals in their 3-4 win pitching a one-hitter and walking only three batters.

Manning has stepped up in her first season and alternates with senior pitcher Ana Juaregui pitching full seven inning games against tough league competition.

Manning had no earned runs scored against her in the Orosi game and struck out five batters.

Manning proved her strength on offense as well. With a scorching bat, she put up two hits, and one run against Orosi and stole one base.

Other hot batters included Valerie Chairez, who was one for three with one RBI, and Maricela Gutierrez who was two for three with one RBI and a triple.

The win followed two straight losses for Lindsay who played over their school's spring break.

The Cardinals bats failed to come through after gaining a first inning lead against Coalinga on Thursday, April 20. After stepping ahead 3-2 in the home game, the Cardinals watched the game slip out of their control in a late game batting surge from the Toads. Coalinga took a 6-3 win earning four runs between the fifth and sixth innings.

Manning delivered another great offensive performance batting three for three with one RBI.

Juaregui had a strong game against the Toads pitching to 25 batters allowing only one walk, and five hits. She stuck out four batters but the Cardinals defense recorded three crucial errors allowing the late game scoring.
