After dehydrating in the sun through a 45-minute delay of the start of the game, Exeter allowed one run in their battle with Immanuel. They gave it up in the first inning then shut the Eagles down to take a 9-1 Monarch win at home.

The victory puts Exeter in a tie for second place with the Eagles. Both teams have a 6-3 record.

Immanuel scored their only run in the first inning when lead-off batter Elizabeth Dorian was walked and later scored on a wild pitch by Exeter's Caitlin Carter.

The Monarchs scored their first run in the bottom of the second when Ashley Wilson reached first on an error by Immanuel's first baseman, Jessica Schedel. Wilson stole second and third base and was hit home on Chelsea Boland's one-out double. Boland moved around the bases stealing second and advancing to third on a sacrifice fly from Cortney Whitlock. Boland scored on a wild pitch from Immanuel's Amanda Neufield. Neufield had a rough game completing all six innings walking five batters, striking out six and giving up seven hits for eight earned runs.

Exeter added three runs in the fourth when Wilson once again started things off with a double. Markie Simons then walked. With one out, Shannon Mahan singled to load the bases. Whitlock scored two runners on an RBI single and Callie Souza drove in one run with a sacrifice fly to deep right field.

Exeter added its final three runs in the sixth when Whitlock was put on with a walk. She moved over when Kylie Souza was hit by pitch. Cleanup batter Callie Souza drove in both runners with a triple. Callie Souza then scored on a sacrifice hit from Marlene Gonzalez.

Exeter pitcher Caitlin Carter started the game and pitched for one and one third innings. She gave up one run walking three batters and striking out two. Shannon Mahan received the win pitching the remainder of the game. She gave up two hits and struck out five batters.

The home-win over Immanuel was the end of a 1-1 week for Exeter who dropped a 5-2 home contest to league leaders Dinuba on Tuesday, April 25.

Dinuba scored one run in the first, two runs in the third, one run in fourth and one run in sixth.

Exeter fought back in the sixth inning when Whitlock and the Souza sisters delivered three singles in a row. Whitlock scored on a wild pitch. Marlene Gonzalez drove Kylie Souza in with a single. The inning ended when Callie Souza was thrown out at the plate by a close throw from Dinuba's first baseman.

Exeter also squandered a comeback opportunity in the bottom of the seventh when the Monarchs left Whitlock and Carter on base at the close of the game.

Whitlock was two for four on the day. Kylie Souza was two for four with a double in her first at bat. Both Callie Souza and Marlene Gonzalez went two for three at the plate.

Kateyn Goins recorded the loss as she gave up eight hits and one walk.
