The Spartans enter Southwest Sierra League play this week with a perfect 5-0 record and a lot of rushing success. Strathmore football has been on fire this season, burning through opponents' defensive efforts with 872 rushing yards from senior running back Keith Delk and 497 passing yards from quarterback Jake Duffin.

The Spartans capped off their non-league schedule with a 37-6 blowout victory over Orange Cove.

The Spartans took their time scoring halfway through the first quarter on an 18-yard run by Delk who leads the league in scoring.

He added another touchdown at the end of the second quarter on an 8-yard run to bring the score up to 14-0 at the half.

In the second half, the Spartans kept up their momentum scoring a safety behind the tackle of Fernando Lemus 1:45 into the third quarter.

A minute later, the Spartans carried the ball into the end zone again, this time in the hands of Bobby Ramirez on a 10-yard run. Ramirez totaled 42 yards on five carries for the night

Orange Cove finally snuck onto the board halfway through the third quarter on a 13-yard keeper by quarterback Junior Alvarez bringing the score to 23-6.

But Delk went on to score two more touchdowns before the end of the third quarter on a long 35-yard run and again on a short three yard run. He finished the night with 142 yards on 15 carries and four touchdowns.

The game went scoreless in the fourth quarter.

On the defensive side of the ball, Fernando Lemus and Victor Ceballos stumped the Titans making eight and seven tackles respectively.

Brenna Hazen picked off the only interceptions of the night while A.J. Knight recovered an Orange Cove fumble.

The Spartans are now 157-58 and enter league play with the best record out of the 6-team league including Caruthers (4-1), Fowler (4-1), Farmersville (0-5), McFarland (1-4) and Riverdale (0-5).
