Lindsay's chances at a playoff birth are possible but they are relying on three straight wins in the next two weeks to boost their current 5-6 record above .500.

The Cardinals traveled to undefeated Corcoran on Tuesday but the game occurred after press time.

That leaves the Cardinals with the task of defeating Orosi, Central Valley Christian and Parlier. Lindsay is 1-1 with both CVC and Parlier and is 2-0 against Orosi making wins possible.

The Cardinals have been on a comeback rush after losing five straight league games in March and early April.

&#8220Basically, our pitchers are throwing strikes and getting ahead now,” Lindsay Coach Brett Kindig said.

The team has struggled on the mound but is finding a successful duo in sophomore Cassie Manning and freshman Hayley Kendig who switch off starting and relieving.

Lindsay split last week's games, starting out with a 3-4 win against Parlier on Tuesday, April 24. Kendig started and struck out four batters in six innings. She gave up seven hits and only one earned one. Manning came in to close with a 3-1 lead and earned the save getting out three straight batters in the seventh inning.

In the win, Lindsay's Brianha Reeves hit the teams first homerun in a one for two performance at the plate.

&#8220She's had an extra base hit in four straight games,” Coach Kendig said. &#8220We encourage her to be a real aggressive swinger. When she goes up to bat, she hits it hard and she's only a sophomore.”

Lindsay's Jeshea Garcia was another effective batter going two for three with one run.

Lindsay stumbles in Woodlake 5-10

In their final meeting of the season, the Tigers creamed the Cardinals in a 5-10 home victory.

The Tigers were swinging and scored three runs in each of the first three innings to take a 9-2 lead heading into the fourth.

&#8220Against Woodlake, it was the same old story; we got behind early and Woodlake got ahead early,” Kendig said.

Manning took the loss despite striking out 11 batters. The Tigers got six earned runs on seven hits and eight walks.

Nicole Bolanos went two for four at the plate for Lindsay scoring one run.

Manning had two RBIs on one hit.

Lindsay will host the 2-8 Orosi Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 3 and will celebrate Senior Night at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5 against CVC.

The 6-4 Tigers will travel to CVC to play the Cavaliers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 3 in Visalia.
