Each week, Exeter Union High School coaches will nominate outstanding players in each sport. These players will be featured here in the newspaper as well as at Kirkman’s VIP Pizza. This week’s players are listed below.

Aztecs shut out Wolves in ESiL opener
Farmersville began East Sierra League play on Wednesday night, Jan. 10, against Wonderful College Prep Academy. The Aztecs did all their scoring in the first half, and won 6-0. On Friday night, the Aztecs improved to 2-0 in the ESiL with a 3-1 win over the Orange Cove Titans. Last night the Aztecs continued ESiL play against the Summit Charter Collegiate Academy Bears. Final score for the match was reached after press time.
Woodlake starts strong in ESL
The Tigers hosted the Golden Bears of Sierra Pacific on Wednesday night, Jan. 10, as both teams began East Sequoia League competition. Woodlake scored the most goals they ever have in a single game, winning 7-2. By halftime, Woodlake was ahead 3-0. Woodlake went on to defeat the Granite Hills Grizzlies 2-1 on Friday. Woodlake continued ESL play last night against the Strathmore Spartans. The final score was reached after press time.
Aztecs fall to Titans
Farmersville hosted Orange Cove on Friday night, Jan. 12, and were defeated 2-1. Andrea Jacobo had the lone goal for the Aztecs. The assist came from Anahi Maldonado. The Aztecs continued ESiL play last night against the Summit Charter Collegiate Academy Bears. The result of that match occurred after press time. They will play against the Orosi Cardinals on Friday night beginning at 6 p.m.
Spartans spear Tigers 64-16
Strathmore head coach Richard Miranda wanted his team to come out strong in their first East Sequoia League game. He got more than that as they defeated the Tigers 64-16. Jazmin Soto recovered from a slow start to lead Strathmore with 18 points. Woodlake was led by Jasmine Panagua with five points. Strathmore played Sierra Pacific last night, the final result was reached after press time. Woodlake also had a game last night against the Corcoran Panthers. It, too, went final after press time.
Blazers improve to 1-1 in WYL
Golden West traveled to Lemoore on Thursday, Jan. 11, and came home with a 3-0 win over the Tigers. Golden West scored two goals in the first half. Next, the Blazers will travel across Visalia to play the El Diamante Miners tonight at 6 p.m. Currently Golden West is in third place in the WYL.
Spartans defeat Tigers 65-46
The Spartans continued East Sequoia League play on Friday night, Jan. 12, against the Woodlake Tigers. The second quarter seemed to be the deciding frame as Strathmore outscored Woodlake 14-4 on their way to a 65-46 win. Woodlake was led in scoring by Juan Pinon with 19 points. After playing Sierra Pacific last night, final results occurring after press time, Strathmore will play Corcoran at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday night. Woodlake played Corcoran last night, final results occurring after press time, and will host Lindsay tonight at 7:30 p.m.
