Each week, Exeter Union High School coaches will nominate outstanding players in each sport. These players will be featured here in the newspaper as well as at Kirkman’s VIP Pizza. This week’s players are listed below.

Mission Oak beats Strathmore 11-3

It was a tough day in the pool for the Spartans as the Hawks handed them an 11-3 loss in their own pool on Tuesday, Oct. 8. Strathmore allowed five goals in the third quarter which made it 8-1. Mission Oak had multiple goal scorers in the game. Strathmore returned to action on Monday, Oct. 15. Today, they will face the Bakersfield Christian Eagles at 4:30 p.m.

Blazers keep playoff hopes alive

Golden West is in the clear to make the D-II playoffs this season after defeating Mt. Whitney 13-7. Two games over .500 with four left they return to the pool against the Lemoore Tigers on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 6:30 p.m.

Exeter pitches for funds

The Exeter Baseball Booster will be hosting a dinner/ auction and dance on Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Exeter Veterans Memorial Building, 324 N. Kaweah Ave. in Exeter. Doors open at 5 p.m. with dinner being served at 6:30. There will live and silent auction with items such as vacation packages, autographed items, and much more. The booster will also be honoring Lonnie Barnett. Tickets for singles are $75, couples are $140, and table (8 persons) is $550. 26th Truck Hirayama Memorial Tournament

The Lindsay High School Boosters is hosting their annual golf tournament at River Island Country Club on Sunday, Oct. 28. The format is an 18-hole, four-person scramble. Registration begins at 11 a.m. with a shotgun tee off at noon. Prizes for the top three teams, longest drive hole and closets to the pin will be awarded. A BBQ lunch will be provided. Cost per team is $100 and checks should be made payable to Lindsay Athletic Booster. For more information, call 559-359-7536.
