Thin Mints, Carmel DeLites and Lemonades– they’re right around the corner! Girl Scouts of Central California South is counting down to Mega Drop, Saturday, Feb. 6.
During the Girl Scout Mega Drop, truckloads of cookies arrive in Visalia bringing thousands of Girl Scout cookies for girls to begin selling Sunday, Feb. 7. This event also takes place in Bakersfield and Fresno bringing more than 570,000 cases of Girl Scout cookies to the Central Valley (that’s more than 6,840,000 packages of cookies!)
The Visalia Mega Drop will be taking place at Sequoia Mall on 3355 S. Mooney Blvd. Trucks will set up in assembly line order and volunteers will be waiting for cars of Girl Scout parents and troop leaders to drive down the row of cookies. Volunteers and staff will be loading cars up with cookies beginning at 10:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.
The Girl Scout cookie program teaches Girl Scouts 5 key skills: goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics. When selling cookies, Girl Scouts make goals of how many cookies they want to sell, decide what they want to do with the profit, make change for customers, and become confident by asking individuals to purchase cookies. The girls’ cookie sales earn them funds for service projects, educational field trips, and also personal recognition items.
To find local Girl Scouts, cookie lovers are encouraged to download the Girl Scout Cookie Finder App on their smartphone. More information can be found online at www.GirlScoutsCCS.org.
