visalia – A longstanding feud over a woman landed one man behind bars.
Just before 3 p.m. on Sept. 1, David Robert Simoni, 51, of Visalia was stopped at a red light when he noticed another man, who allegedly was having an affair with his wife, pull up behind him on County Center at Caldwell Avenue. According to the Visalia Police Department, Simoni then purposely backed into the other man’s car causing minor damage.
The two men continued yelling at each other from their cars eastbound on Caldwell when the victim stopped his car near Caldwell and Mooney Boulevard as Simoni drove passed him and out of the area.
The victim then drove to Simoni’s house in the 900 block of West Orchard Street where another argument ensued. The victim began to drive away when Simoni brought out a shotgun and fired one round, peppering the back of the man’s car. The Visalia Police officers responded to a report of shots fired.
Officers later contacted Simoni at his residence where he was taken into custody without incident. Officers seized the shotgun used to shoot the other man’s vehicle. Simoni was arrested and later booked into the Tulare County Pre Trial Facility for two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, and negligent discharge of a firearm. There were no injuries.
