Visalia police arrest Israel Gomez for being a felon in possession of firearm, ammo among other crimes

VISALIA – When police knock on the front door perhaps the worst thing to do is escape out the bedroom window littering weapons along the way.

According to the Visalia Police Department, last Wednesday, April 14, the special enforcement unit responded to a residence in the 1700 block of North Bridge Street to conduct a probation search at 11:01 a.m.

Upon officer’s arrival, suspect Israel Gomez, 19, jumped out of a bedroom window, ran through the backyard of the residence and tossed a loaded firearm. Gomez was taken into custody and the firearm was recovered by officers. Gomez was arrested for felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammo and resisting/delaying/obstructing an officer. Gomez was later booked into the Tulare County pretrial facility.

Friday, April 16

At approximately 9:13 p.m., officers in the special enforcement unit responded to a residence in the 200 block of NW 2nd Avenue to conduct a parole search. Suspect Luis Huerta-Garcia, 22, who is on active parole, was found to be in possession of two firearms, ammo, body armor and stolen property. Huerta-Garcia was taken into custody for felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammo, felon in possession of body armor, possession of stolen property and a parole violation. Huerta-Garcia was later booked into the Tulare County pretrial facility.

Thursday, April 15

At 4:08 a.m., the Visalia Police Department responded to an assault that had just occurred in the 900 block of East Myrtle. Upon arrival officers located a victim suffering from a stab wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Wednesday, April 14

At approximately 12:34 p.m., officers in the special enforcement unit contacted suspect male juvenile in the 1800 block of South Woodland Street. The male juvenile was found to be on active probation, found to be in possession of a stolen firearm, and had an active warrant. The male juvenile was taken into custody and later booked into the Tulare County juvenile detention facility

Tuesday, April 13

At 12:19 a.m., a Visalia Police Department patrol officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near Ben Maddox and Noble. During the stop, officers located stolen property inside the vehicle and detained the driver, Eric Montandon, 44. Further investigation led officers to a rented room at the Relax Inn where Jessica Miller, 39, was contacted, and another search was conducted. Officers located additional stolen property inside the room including stolen mail, narcotics and evidence of identity theft. Detectives with the property crimes unit were called to the scene and continued with this investigation. Montandon and Miller were arrested and booked into the Tulare County pre-trail facility for possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance and identity theft.
