Visalia Chamber toasts to a needed night out with Oktoberfest on Sept. 24

Visalia Chamber will hold its annual beer and wine tasting event with live music at Vossler Farms

VISALIA – You were ready for your child to return to school, sports, and arts programs but you weren’t prepared to return to an already busy schedule complicated by COVID. Practices, games, classes, and workshops are to be determined, on quarantine, or canceled until further notice. Everyone needs a break and, although Oktoberfest is always held near the end of September, it couldn’t have come at a better time.

For the seventh year, the Visalia Chamber of Commerce will host Oktoberfest at Vossler Farms Pumpkin Patch in Visalia on Friday, Sept. 24. This annual community festival will bring live bands, food samples from local restaurants, as well as the much anticipated beer and wine tastings.

“We’re excited to welcome everyone out for a good time. I think we all need a night of great music, cold beer, local eats and great friends,” chamber CEO Gail Zurek said. “This is going to be a great night and I’m so excited to welcome everyone back to Vossler’s pumpkin patch for some good old county fun!”

Oktoberfest 2021 is the perfect way to kick off the fall season. Live entertainment will be provided by local bands The Appletons, JJ Brown Band, and Joe Peters. Building on the success of 2019’s record breaking attendance, Oktoberfest 2021 is expected to attract up to 1,500 people and more than 60 vendors.

Zurek said the event will follow all California Department of Public Health (CDPH) guidelines.

“We are cognizant of the real health challenges our community faces fighting COVID-19,” Zurek said. “We’ve taken measures to reduce spread, we ask participants to skip the party if they’re not feeling well or have been exposed.”

There are few restrictions for events under the CDPH’s “Beyond the Blueprint for Industry and Business Sectors.” The only restrictions involve mega-events defined as indoor events with more than 1,000 people and outdoor events with more than 10,000 people.

General admission tickets are $50 and will sell out prior to the event. Ticket admission includes live entertainment, food and a mug for beer and wine tasting. Tickets can be purchased online at www.visaliachamber.org/oktoberfest. Oktoberfest is presented by Budweiser, with event sponsors Bueno Beverage, Vossler Farms, Visalia Mall, Patrick L. Salazar—State Farm Agent, Visalia Ceramic Tile and SS Shirts. For more information including vendor application, call the Visalia Chamber at 559-734-5876 or go to www.visaliachamber.org.
