VISALIA – The mixed martial arts community will get quite a present leading into Christmas, as 559 Fights teams with Urijah Faber’s A1 Combat for a two-night combat sports event Dec. 22-23 at the Visalia Convention Center.

“Nothing like this has been done in the Valley that I can remember,” said 559 Fights president Jeremy Luchau. “Tachi Palace (in Kings County) has done some very special MMA events where they hosted MMA and Boxing in one night, but I can’t think of anything that was two nights of action.”

559 Fights kicks off the weekend on Friday, Dec. 22 with 559 Fights #102 “Reyes vs. Aguiniga”, which features bantamweight kingpin Gabriel Reyes (4-0) of Hanford in a battle with unbeaten Coalinga’s Jose Aguiniga (3-0).

“Not sure if there’s another fighter as hot as Gabriel Reyes right now,” Luchau said. “Not just in the Valley, but he is turning heads all over the state.”

In the co-main event, 559 Fights light heavyweight champion Kyle Mask (4-0) of Madera is back to defend his gold against unbeaten Fresno’s Isaac Johnson (2-0).

“Don’t be fooled by Johnson’s record,” Luchau said. “He’s more than capable of being in this position. We normally prefer guys to have 4-5 fights before fighting for a title, but in this case, I think Mask is going to have a good fight on his hands.”

In the feature fight of the evening on Dec. 22, 559 Fights middleweight champ Bakersfield’s Pedro Trujillo (5-2) defends his belt against an opponent to be determined.

And in other action, the 559 Fights welterweight strap is on the line as Sacramento’s Vlad Burian (2-1-1) takes on Fresno’s Jose Estrada (2-1).

“Looking forward to seeing Pedro back in action,” Luchau said. “He’s become a fan favorite. And I think Burian vs. Estrada could be a fight-of-the-night type of fight.”

559 Fights and A1 Combat have teamed to create a 2-day event ticket, which gets ticket buyers into both shows on back-to-back days for just $60.

Tickets can be purchased at Eventbrite.com. For more information on the card call 559-813-0307 or go online to 559Fights.com.
