Aviation Electrician’s Mate 2nd Class Amanda Ojeda now serves with the “Wildcards” on USS Gabrielle Giffords

VISALIA – A Visalia-native has recently joined the “Wildcards” of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 23, contributing to the USS Gabrielle Giffords’ mission in the U.S. 7th Fleet to promote regional stability and cooperation.

From an announcement from the Navy Office of Community Outreach on May 5, Visalia-native Amanda Ojeda, who ranks in the Aviation Electrician’s Mate 2nd Class, has been assigned to the Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 23, also known as the “Wildcards.” The Wildcards are a U.S. Navy helicopter squadron based at Naval Air Station North Island in San Diego.

The USS Gabrielle Giffords, part of Destroyer Squadron 7, is a combat ship that is on a rotational deployment, operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with Allies and partners and serve as a ready-response force in support of a free and open Indo-pacific region.
