VISALIA – Visalia-native and rising country music artist Megan Jean Wright released her third country song, “Settle Down Place” on May 31 across all music platforms, and did so in partnership with Leaving Austin, a country group that is also homegrown from Tulare County.

In less than a week, Wright’s latest song is receiving thousands of streams and being shared by Sea Gayle Music, an independent music publishing company in Nashville owned by Chris DuBoise and Brad Paisley.

Wright’s latest country song was written by Austin Machado; Davis Forney of Leaving Austin; Hannah Ellis, who was just nominated for Academy of Country Music’s Best New Female Artist of the Year; Mike Stevens; and Lalo Guzman. The song was mastered by Mike Monseur, with mastering credit from Maren Morris, Little Big Town and Lindsey Ell.

“I feel so blessed and grateful to have this team come alongside me and be such a big part of my journey,” Wright said via announcement. “Some were writers on my first song, but to have all their experience, creativity and talent for this latest song, ‘Settle Down Place,’ is such an honor and honestly unbelievable for me.”

Forney, who is a Visalia native and member of Leaving Austin who now resides in Nashville, said, “I’m from Visalia and it’s been really fun working with a friend and another artist (who is) starting out.”

The second member of Leaving Austin, Austin Machado, is from Selma, further tying this song to the Central Valley region.

Visalia native Megan Jean Wright celebrates the release of her third country song, “Settle Down Place,” this past month.

“It feels like home, recording with people from the same place,” Machado said.

The trio also shot their video to the song in Tulare County, near Kaweah Preserves. The song, “Settle Down Place,” according to the trio, is a feel good song about love and finding someone who’s been there all along.

Wright’s songs are being produced by Britehouse studios in Visalia. Britehouse is owned by Michael Stevens and Steven Darling. Both producers work with top named country and pop artists.

“Megan is a true artist. She knows how to pull from real life experience and knows how to make the songs relatable for the listener,” Stevens said.

Aside from her newest song, Wright’s first two songs have garnered over 35,000 streams since April 2024 with “Stupid White Truck” and most recently “Gaslight.”

“I’m really grateful for the amount of streams, but even more grateful for the amount of people these songs are impacting,” Wright shared. “These songs have helped me heal from past relationships including a divorce and I don’t mind getting messy to allow healing.”

Wright shared from painful experiences with relationships in her first two songs, and her third “Settle Down Place,” shares just how far she’s come.

Wright was born and raised in Visalia. Music, especially worship music, has always been a part of her life. Wright is the owner of The Couch Girl, a furniture business in Visalia as she continues to be a business owner as a local country artist taking the stage of country music. Wright is available for interviews and would love the opportunity to share her local story and even perform locally.
