“The Hunchback of Notre Dame” (1939) at CACHE

August 5 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

The Center for Art, Culture, and History, Exeter, or CACHE, will be hosting a brand-new family-friendly summer classic cinema series every first Monday at 6 p.m. beginning June 3rd with the 1937 film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The rest of the summer season lineup includes The Little Princess (1939) on July 1st, starring Shirley Temple, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1939) on August 6th, starring Charles Laughton and Maureen O’Hara.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame is based on the classic Victor Hugo novel about a deaf hunchback who is the bell-ringer of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. He falls in love with a gypsy girl, and he does all he can to protect her from an evil chief justice who wants to rid the city of gypsies. The film stars Charles Laughton, Maureen O’Hara, and Cedric Hardwicke and is noted for being the first film ever shown at the Cannes Film Festival.

Vintage dress is encouraged but not required to attend. The screenings will be shown in our upstairs facility, and film discussions will follow, hosted by Aida and Lee Bartoletti of Exeter. Bring your own snacks and non-alcoholic beverages. Please arrive before 6 p.m. to peruse CACHE, socialize, and select your seating. Doors will close at 6 p.m.

This event is free and open to the public (donations are accepted), and it is recommended for ages 13 and older. For more information, visit their website.
